Moving On: Part 1: The First Wave

The first of a three-part documentary about the exodus of anglophones from Quebec, a result of the threat of separation from Canada. Part 1 is seen through the eyes of six friends who left Montreal in the 70s, after the separatist Parti Québécois came to power. They talk about the October Crisis, feeling alienated and as they saw it the limited opportunities for English speakers in Montreal. Story, David Johnston; videographer, Phil Carpenter. www.montrealgazette.com

    I am a montrealer …
I am a montrealer of Irish descent, I love bill 101 because it keeps quebec from having it’s culture ripped apart by immigrants. The French don’t hate the anglophones they are afraid of having their culture become like Toronto’s culture
