    I AM home, and I …
I AM home, and I refuse to stand by while coal companies blow away the beauty and heritage of our state. We are the mountain state, NOT the extraction state.

    A Christian, as I …
A Christian, as I understand it, would attack an idea and not the person. We can disagree about MTR (I’m against it) but let’s keep it at the level of debate. — A Fellow Christian

    save a coal miner …
save a coal miner and shot a tree hugger

  5. winmagnum says:

    I can show you a …
I can show you a lot of places that have been strip mined in Indiana where I live, and the best thing they have growing on them after 20 years is black locust and stunted hardwoods < 10 feet tall. That soil is so compacted, it can’t grow much but brush. It is a shame that reclamation results in the semi-moonscape that it does. You may not agree with me, but it is true.

  6. treehuggersnightmare says:

You claim to be a …
You claim to be a Christian? You are worshipping the creation and not the Creator… I am a Christian… and very proud of it…

Richard Collier…. you my friend are an idiot…. “made of dirt…. a little leaky” Show proof… I can get on camera and say I’m a millionaire…. not true but I can still say it… get educated… know what you are talking about before getting on camera and making a fool of yourself

  9. treehuggersnightmare says:

    I can show you …
I can show you places that have been mined… reclaimed.. trees planted… and if you didn’t know it was an old mining site.. you could not tell the difference… please don’t be like the extremely intelligent ashley judd… she actually said that our hardwood forest are irreplacable

  10. winmagnum says:

    It’s unfortunate …
It’s unfortunate that the debate over this issue has turned into a name calling contest. The fact is that MTR is incredibly destructive, and once the coal is gone, and the mountains are gone, there is very little left. I work in the field of forestry, and that area would be better served to productively manage a renewable natural resource like trees for a source of income. Trees grow back and the whole landform is not destroyed by cutting them. That doesn’t make me a tree hugger.

    zappaman needs …
zappaman needs zapped, cause honestly your a peice of crap, those coal miners for massey arent ruinning the forests or whatever, there just trying to put a dinner on the table for there familys, unlike you tree huggers who have garden food everynight for dinner

    Edit…

Renewable energy accounted for more than 10 percent of the domestically-produced energy used in the United States in the first half of 2008. U.S. wind power installed capacity now exceeds 25,176 MW which is enough to serve 7.0 million average households and wind turbines could more than meet U.S. electricity needs.

Philbusa- first of all if you would like to actually have a discussion, you should use the reply button. That way people will know when you are directing one of your brilliant comments at them.
Secondly… Unfortunately 5% of this country’s power cones from MTR. I am doing what I can to change that.
Around 20% of this country’s power comes from renewable sources, which is also being used to power BOTH of our computers. That percentage is growing every year, while coal is dropping. Time to evolve.

    Ahh the truth comes …
Ahh the truth comes out… you think that because it is a poor area, you should be able to poison them if it is profitable for you.

    Poison the poor…
    Shoot the hippies…

Are there any other groups that you want to kill?

  17. eng1225 says:

    Have you seen …
Have you seen Kayford, Cabin Creek lately? It needs to be covered up. I was born there and hate to admit it because CC is nothing but a pill head, welfare drawing, drug selling community.

    Save a Miner-Hang a …
Save a Miner-Hang a Tree Hugger. Those people didn’t need arrested. They needed run over by coal trucks…Get out of the way, or be flattened. Let the miners do their jobs.

  19. philbusa says:

    hey zappaman,you …
hey zappaman, you are an absolute idiot, heres a fact,YOU ARE USING COAL FROM MTR TO RUN YOU COMPUTER,HOME,ETC… that im sure of,i could care less about anything you say ,to me you are like a drug addict telling the world how bad cocaine is,and snorting it at the same time. i will say this, coal will not go without a fight, thats a fact, those of us that depend on it for our familys will fight to the end. wake up and smell the roses, this aint fairyland, its reality.

  20. zappamannn says:

    “what the do …
“what the do you think runs your computer. you are no doubt another check drawing cheese eating drain on society… SHUT THE UP JACKASS!”

More compelling rhetoric from another mASSey Licker.

we’re all dirty hippies who collect welfare… we get it. Is that all you people have?

come on man use your puny imagination! you can do better than that!

  21. zappamannn says:

    Massey mines …
Massey mines irresponsibly because it is cheap for them… but it is not cheap for the people who live down wind from Kayford Mtn. who have to breath that crap day in and day out. It’s not cheap for the folks in Prenter with hospital bills because they have been drinking poisoned water for years. It sure won’t be cheap for the Marsh Fork kids who develop health problems later on.

You people don’t care about Appalachia or its people. You just want to make a buck… no mater who it hurts.

  22. zappamannn says:

    “what the do …
“what the do you think runs your computer”

yes we are all using electricity. It would be nice to know that mountains were not permanently destroyed to produce that electricity.

It would be nice to know that some little girl in Prenter Holler didn’t have to take a bath in poisonous water because of irresponsible slurry disposal, so that I can turn my lights on.

It would be nice to know that the kids at Marsh Fork elementary weren’t forced to breath coal dust everyday so I can watch TV.

  23. philbusa says:

    hey …
hey freedomjunkie420,what the do you think runs your computer. you are no doubt another check drawing cheese eating drain on society heres the deal, when you shut off your power and start leading by example, get you some solar panels and maybe a windmill, then maybe someone on here will listin to your points.untill then SHUT THE UP JACKASS!
